The Land of Green Plums
Photograph
possibly “Untitled” from the Window Series, ca. 1984
Notes
Jan Saudek used this room and window for a number of his images, selectively toning and hand-coloring areas in the print. The subject matter may be characterized as a kind of personal Surrealism; dreamlike subjects (most often nude or seminude women, occasionally men and even infants.
For this cover, Saudek’s image is cropped. The missing lower half constitutes the floor of the room with a central pool of liquid under the woman. Make of it what you will. To view an uncropped version, click here.
