Veil and Burn

Keith Carter’s selective use of focus and motion blur put some of his work in a ghostly space between document and – for lack of a better term – spirit photography. White Dress has an otherworldly appearance with just enough detail to keep a foot in the real world. The feeling is of simultaneous constraint and release.
Dennis Roberts’ cover design adds to the spectral sensibility of the image by reproducing it as a negative on the back cover.
